In a nutshell, the LCDs have a SLIGHTLY sharper image but don't handle the greys as well. I had a 32 Sharp Aquos and liked it, but it is swallowed up in my living room. I am looking at a 42 Panasonic 42 TH-42PX50U as I write this. Good size, great picture, well reviewed TV (big with the Consumer Reports crowd). The speakers stink but if you get a set like it you usually spring for surround sound. I have a HD cable box and HD broadcasts are exquisite. I am the type that can usually come up with a knock or two on most everything but I can't knock this picture.
