Maybe their reaction to your request is a result of their policy that you can return ANYTHING you buy there AT ANY TIME (even years later) if you are not satisfied or the item becomes defective. It sounds like their accounting system doesn't allow for a common sense resolution to what you were trying to accomplish. Glad to hear that you came out on top.
