You can't really "remove a hotstamp" with a solvent, but you can usually remove the foil that was transferred to the chip by the hot die. If they did it properly, they melted some of the chip material during the process and the impression of the die will always be there.

A process of machining away the center of the chip will remove everything but it's very time consuming and seldom completely successful. I've never tried to do this process but have seen some that look pretty good.

The secret in removing the gold foil is to use lots of clean Q-Tips with your acetone. You have to not only dissolve the foil, but get it off the chip or it will simply spread out and turn the entire inlay brown. Plan on using 4-5 swabs per side and take your time. Keep the acetone off the base chip material as it will also dissolve or discolor. If you are doing several chips, you will find you can get it down to 3-4 minutes per chip... still time consuming but not unreasonable if you're salvaging a cancelled lot of chips.
