the ONE CARDINAL RULE for all emails

The ONE simple cardinal rule for ALL emails received -- just try to remember to never "log in" to ANYTHING after clicking links in an email. Instead, go to the site directly (by typing into your browser or using your regular bookmark) and then logging in. Once you are at the site that way (PayPal, eBay, etc.) you can click links (like "Items won on eBay") and pay for things, bid for things, answer questions, etc.

Another tip: anyting really received from eBay or PayPal will start off with your full name (example, Dear John Smith, .....). If you don't see your name, you can immediately trash the email. But if you do see your name, still be cautious and log in like I say in the first paragraph above.
