Genuine??....maybe............

There are 3 things that I look for when I look at Flamingo Capri hot stamp chips.

As an example, here are images (both sides) of a genuine chip vs. an imitation chip. Can you see the differences?

Genuine
Imitation

  • The alignment of the hot-stamp
  • The color of the hot-stamp
  • The color of the chip

You can clearly see on the imitation chip that the hot-stamp is aligned, the hot-stamp is very thick with a bronze tone rather than a gold or silver tone and the color of the chip is different as well.

By looking at the scan from the ebay auction, the chip color and the color of the hot-stamp looks more like the imitation chip above. However, this would not be enough for me to make a final judgement call, since scan colors can be deceiving. But the hot-stamp alignment of a chip can be determined.

I will ask the seller to show scans of both sides of the chip.

I hope you find the above helpful. To learn more about the Flamingo Capri, feel free to print the attached article.
