NCR Old Family Bible info wanted

Hi all,

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Found my old family Bible and was wondering if anyone is familiar with old books here.

It is the "Illustrated Domestic Bible" printed and published by the Case, Lockwood and Company in Harford, CN dated 1866. It's about 8 and 1/2 inches wide, 11 inches long and nearly 4 inches thick. Has a depiction of "The Creation" on the front and back covers. Edges of pages are gold colored.Has numerous illustrations in both the Old and New Testaments as well as center pages to hold family photos. Each page of both Testaments has "Notes" and "Reflections" listed at the bottom and numerous abbreviations and numbers down the center of each page.

It has my grandfather's name on it but he wasn't born until later in the 19th Century so I assume it may have belonged to my great grandfather. Has a number of mid-19th century photos of who I assume are my ancestors. Some are in military uniforms and others in dress clothes of the time.

Sorry for the long description but I was interested in whether this was a common Bible for the masses that was used regularly or a special expanded version for the well-to-do.

Thanks in advance for any info that you may have on this family heirloom.

Again Happy Holidays!

Roy Baldwin
