Antique Chip question

I have recently expanded my chip collecting to include antique poker chips. In the Fleur-de-Lis design [Seymour code PD-GQ] some of the chips have the square look and feel of modern composition chips [see green chip]. Others [red chip] have the rounded edge and slick feel of what I think of as crest & seal chips.

Are there old and new versions of this, and most other, poker designs? Are the values vastly different. Currently I am collecting the commom, inexpensive chips ....... of course I said that 3-4 years ago when I started collecting California chips and now ...... ??

Any advise, comments, or warnings would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
