The best one I have found is the UV tube that goes into a standard small flourescent fixture. GE F15T8-BLB, which is a 15 watt black light.

The incandescent bulbs are usless toys.

The keychain LED lights work, but not great.

The little battery operated, hand held are very good for carrying around and you can find them on the web (someone on TCB sells them) and you can find them at coin shows.

The reason I like the plug in version for home/office is that it puts out the best light and brightness. But the hand held is excellent for shows and compact.

I've found the bulbs and holders at hardware stores, it's nothing exceptional. Home Depot sells them. Be prepared to pay a little for the 18" tube in novelty shops. If you are taking pictures of the chips, you need the 118v AC powered model. You can convert just about any size flourescent fixture to "black light" The key is the, BLB = Black Light Blub (not BL)

Here's a website that explains it all. vbg
