If they were legitimate, the bidding would be at least $200 each by now. I could see that $25 going for $500, IF it were legitimate.

The first clue is that the ivory is flat sawn (not across grain so the center nerve hole would show).

Second is the carving itself. It just does not look right. I'm betting that the chips are not hand carved but done with an electric device. Carving usually starts with a deep beginnimg point then fads to a fine point as the knife leaves the ivory. The lines in the chips on ebay look deep from the start to the end of each line.

Maybe an expert could explain better than I.

I did email the auction to an expert who agreed that they are fakes.

The ebay seller has a bunch of blanks is is cranking out fake after fake.

I really thought that Frank Lonteen would know better.

Does anyone know who hodgesdh (ebay name) is. He is also bidding on this junk.

Talk about removing a cancellation mark. This tops that by 100 fold.
