Michelle, my two cents...

Being a collector, I must concurr, completely with Greg Susong and I truely hope that you put some complete sets out to the chip collecting community.

We will be the ones that years from now will have these chips still in unused condition and still in complete sets.

Providing you agree with this and set those sets aside, there is another market place you can go to to sell off all of the other chips. In fact, there are several market places, and I would not doubt that you have already heard from several representatives of the "I buy complete inventories of chips" people.

I suspect that these people will suggest to you that you should sell the complete inventory to them and not break-out side sets for the collector interests. They will be more than happy to satisfy our needs and that you should just take the easy way out and sell everything in one fell swoop.

Although you have not given specific numbers, typically, a supply of chips for a casino has different quantities for each denomination and the higher denominations are fewer (much fewer) than the lower denominations. In many cases we collectors find that the higher denominations are held in reserve (almost in ransom) as a separate purchase from a set of chips. But hey, this is the principle of supply and demand.

Now, aside from those buyers, there is another "bulk" purchase group out there that likes to buy large sets of multiple denominations of chips, so that they can host home games and/or put on private, charity, legitimate and/or illegal poker/gambling events. These people are very interested in 1, 5, 25, 100 and 500 denominations and to some extent the higher denominations, but they are not adamant about the higher denominations, as they can "fill-in" a set of chips from another series if they need the utility that a higher denomination provides. The chips that get sold into this environment will see some wear over time.

Many of these people can be found over at: www.chiptalk.net.

You also have the option of eBay. Both the collectors and the "bulk" set purchase people monitor eBay enough that you can make sales there.

Of course, as a collector, I very much hope that you set aside some complete sets (one each of each denomination) for the collectors.

However, they are yours to decide what you want to do with them, we can only make suggestions.

Regardless of your choices, for purposes of documentation, at some point we (collectors) would be very interested in knowing the counts, i.e. how many of each denomination were made/delivered.

Thank you,

Jim Follis
