Caesars Tahoe becomes MontBleu

News from the USATODAY web site:

Caesars Tahoe becomes MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa

STATELINE, Nev. (AP) — The Roman Empire is making way for the French Alps at Lake Tahoe with the renaming of Caesars Tahoe hotel-casino to MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. Columbia Sussex Corp. purchased the Lake Tahoe resort from Caesars Entertainment in June for $45 million. The sale was finalized around the same time Caesars Entertainment was acquired by Harrah's Entertainment in Las Vegas.

"The ambiance of MontBleu will be unparalleled to any other resort in our region and we are looking forward to taking Lake Tahoe to the next level of sophistication and style," William Yung, president of Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex, said in a statement issued Monday.

"Our employees and guests have been extremely loyal to us throughout this transitional period and we are excited to join them on this journey to the new MontBleu," he said.

Other renovations planned include four nightclubs, seven restaurants and a spa, the company said.

The hotel, with 440 rooms and 40,000 square-feet of casino space, will remain open during renovations, the company said.

Columbia Sussex and its affiliates operate 80 properties in 28 states and overseas, including the Horizon Casino Resort also at Lake Tahoe, Westin Casuarina Hotel Casino in Las Vegas and the River Palms Casino in Laughlin.
