NEW'S ABOUT VEGAS "STATIONS" CASINO

Wild, Wild Rumors
It would seem that the Station Casinos group has big plans indeed for the land currently occupied by the Wild, Wild West Hotel & Casino. It was originally believed that the Rande Gerber/George Clooney boutique hotel project, Las Ramblas would develop on that space. This would have made sense, as Gerber's two Vegas outlets operate (or are about to operate) within Station Casinos properties; Whiskey Bar at Green Valley Ranch and Cherry at the upcoming Red Rock property. However, when the Las Ramblas project was officially announced, it was at "a location along the Harmon Corridor." Perhaps tellingly, Gerber noted, "Everyone was interested, but it seemed like our hotel would end up as just an amenity in a 4,000-room resort. It wouldn't really be ours." Does that then mean that the Wild, Wild West project is going to be of the larger size, 4,000 room variety? The land the property currently sits on isn't large enough to contain that large of a footprint, unless you were to incorporate what is presently several blocks of office space adjacent and surrounding the property on and around the corner of Tropicana and Industrial. As it turns out, that's exactly the parcels of land that, you guessed it, the Station Casinos Group just purchased in a quick turnaround sale from development company Sasson Hallier. Lori Nelson, Director of Corporate Communications for Station Casinos, did confirm earlier this afternoon that indeed Stations has purchased a total of 67 acres of land including the Wild, Wild West property and its surrounding area. "We are planning on a larger scale property than we have typically done before," continued Nelson "but it is still to early for specifics." As always, remember where you heard it first and stay tuned for more info to follow... FROM SKIP
