eBay Problem: HELP, ADVICE NEEDED

Here's the situation: Illegal Southern Club Chip I put on eBay asking $5. On Sept. 14th--first bidder bid $16.76. eBay showed $5. bid. On Sept. 16th--first bidder upped his bid to $26.76. eBay still showed $5. bid. On Sept. 18th--new bidder bid $550.--he says. Says he meant to bid $5.50. eBay now shows bid as $27.76. First bidder ups his bid to $41.76. eBay shows $42.76. Auction ends 24 hours later. I now get an email from the winner saying he made a mistake--only meant to bid $5.50--not $550. Buyer had over 24 hours to find a way to correct it. He did not. Says he is a "new eBayer" but he has 25 feedbacks. QUESTION: What do I do? Force the issue with eBay and demand payment of $42.76? Let him off hook? What????? HELP! Thanks. Doug
