You are probably right, most folks probably do copy the whole link, however, it shouldn't be any more work to remove the existing "http://". How about this, instead of single-clicking into the text box to paste your image link, how about clicking and dragging across the existing text? This will highlight the existing http and then you just paste yours over it!
