I woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning which may have lead me to be a little more sarcastic than usual. But my post didn't really personally bash her (just her message) at least until she fired the shot at me about not having class.

I understand when people get fooled by something, but this particular piece that she insist on passing along is not new.

I am tired of my email box being filled with nonsense crap warnings from well meaning friends.

I am tired of the bulletin boards I read being pasted with the same old tired hoaxs rehashed over and over again.

I am tired of seeing people post here about a NEW EBAY SCAM, when it is just the same old ebay scam that has been going on for years.

All of this could go away if people applied even a modicum of critical thinking before passing this crap along.

Lets see what Phyliss could have done when she received this email froma friend (undoubtedly a forwarded email with a long trail of email addresses)

Phyliss' first reaction might have been "OH MY thats's outrageous that the telemarketers are able to call my cell." Then she might have thought to herself "well if I'm outraged by this I'm sure many other people would be outraged by this. Hey it says its going to happen in 10 days. I wonder if any of the media has picked up on this . . perhaps I'll do a google search" If she had done that google search she would have come across a couple of old news stories from when the wireless directory was proposed . . . and also picked up a couple of pages debunking this particular email.

But no. rather than applying any critical thought she just spread the "news" along so that the other sheep could all fall in line, and email it along to others and post it on other boards.

BTW emails that announce a 10 day deadline but don't mention a specific date . . . thats a tip off that something is amiss.
