Katie, my friend, it sounds like you're the victim of jealousy and malicious gossip by a small-minded person. I went to an online dictionary and typed in "malicious gossip" and found the following:

malicious gossip - disgraceful gossip about the private lives of other people scandal, dirt scuttlebutt, gossip

comment - a report (often malicious) about the behavior of other people.

There's also "character assassination" and "slander" and those too, seem to fit.

Perhaps you should name the individual, so we can all avoid dealing with him/her. At any rate, it's reprehensible.
