In Northern California, the "Corporation" pays the drop and not the players.

I never played BJ in any of the California clubs as I quit playing any house games many years ago, but I understand this new ruling became effective a year or so ago. Apparently enough players complained about the players drop that the bank decided to pick up the fee.

Just as a side note, I just found out this morning that the Lucky Derby is discontinuing their $500-$1000 buy in pot limit game but is still spreading the $100-$200 buy in pot limit. Apparently a lot of Vegas players were coming in and doing quite well and the club wanted to keep the money in town. Also, apparently the club was not making any or little from spreading the game. Didn't get into the major details as it is not of my concern as I'm strictly a low limit grinder
