THE HRH K-9 UNIT

Every step is an important one in the ongoing struggle to maximize homeland security and Peter Morton’s Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is doing its part. On Wednesday, August 22nd, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino welcomes four new additions to its security staff. The “employees” are four German Shepherd guard dogs, named Sid, Nancy, Prince and Bowie. The new security dogs will provide yet another form of protection and security for the hotel property, its guests and its employees.

The K-9 Unit, a world-class group of German Shepherds (all one year old), has been formally trained at Adam Davis Canine in Naples, Florida and will assist the security team in a number of ways.

The hotel will primarily utilize the dog’s exceptional ability to detect explosives throughout the property. This ability will be of particular importance with incoming deliveries such as US Mail, FedEx, UPS, courier packages and large cargo trucks that station at the loading docks. The dogs will also be able to detect any explosive material that might arrive in the luggage of incoming guests and will aid in the screening of large areas such as banquet halls, concert venues and parking garages.

In areas of the hotel with high traffic volume (i.e. casino floors, pool areas, etc.) the dogs will provide an important visual sense of security. This presence will act as a reassuring safety feature for everyone present at the hotel, from the employees, to the guests and to the artists performing at the hotel.

The new K-9 Unit will be an important new addition to the security team and we welcome them with open arms!!
