I do not like the current OTY process. Largely because there is no set of standards for people to judge chips (or the other categories) because of that I don't know what makes a chip the COTY.

Personally I think a better system for the OTY is to determine a set of standards for which the items are to be judged and then have a panel of judges review the nominations. the panel of jusges wouldn't be evryperson who submitted a nomination. The panel would be selected by the club and would should reflect a diversity of geographic locations as well as collecting interests.

I did not participate in the OTY these past two years, though I did particpate before that. I only collect chips, not slot cards, tokens, or silverstrikes and can't figure out why the club would want me to vote for Slot card of the year or token of the year just because I nominated a casino chip.
