My Ebay Lessons For Today

Recently I was the second highest bidder for a first issue $5 Caesars Palace chip. Today I got via email an official looking EBay form indicating that I had a "Second Chance" to buy the chip at my highest bid. I know who beat me for the chip and when I asked, I learned that the "Second Chance" offer was bogus. I didn't, but I could have, sent this guy a money order for about $2500. Two lessons for me:
1) for the millionth time I learned that there are nasty people out there ready to steal my money
2) in hindsight the giveaway was that the person asked me to respond to his email. I'm guessing that a real offer would have come through My Ebay Messages.
He's done this before and uses the name Joshua and the email address: "joshua100wats@yahoo.com."
I'm posting this to alert other collectors but maybe I'm the last naive person in the hobby.
