I'm far from a dice expert, but the numbers are serial numbers. The dice come in sticks of 6 and each of them has the same number. That way the house haa way of tracking and ensuring the correct dice are on the table.

They normally cancle them by either drilling, scratching or using an impact tool that puts the impressin of a circle on one face.
