Following Jim Blanchard's posts yesterday and my continuing discussions and study of many chips and scans, Im now able to confirm the following variations exist for certain. As a clear pattern has emerged, it is doubtful there are any others to be uncovered. I will be adding this info to my on-line article today, prior to my offering of Borland chips for sale at midday PST.

Re-ordered chips in the $1, $25, $100 and $500 denominations varied from the originals for each of the following 5 casinos: El Rancho, Mint, PussyCat, Silver Slipper, Thunderbird, making a total of 20 'additional' chips.

In the case of two of these chips, The $1 Mint (black vs dark blue) and $1 Silver Slipper (turquoise vs blue) there is a distinct color difference. For the other chips, there are faint differences detectable in the insert colors, but not the chips themselves.

The differences relate to the size of the inserts. The original $1 and $500 chips have 3/8" inserts. The original $25 and $100 chips have 5/8" inserts. All the re-ordered chips have 1/2" inserts. The differences are very visible. All these measurements have a degree of tolerance but you do not need to start measuring them to see the difference. To make it very clear Ive scanned a few each of the 3 insert sizes below. Top row is 3/8", middle row is 1/2", bottom row is 5/8".

Before someone asks the two obvious questions I will give my answers.

1. Why are there no differences in the $5, $1000 or $5000 chips?
The original $5 chips already had 1/2" inserts.
Re-orders of the $1000 and $5000 chips were made as 'pies' not with inserts.

2. Why are there no differences for the other 5 casinos?
These 5 casinos were the first Borland had made and would have had longer 'exposure' in his store. Its therefore probable that the chips for the other 5 either already had the 1/2" inserts first time round or he never sold out of these and didnt have to re-order them.

I hope that clarifies things until something else comes along
