NCR: Bally's Name May Disappear in Atlantic City

Just prior to the completion of the merger of Harrah's Entertainment and Caesars Entertainment an article appeared in Monday's edition of the Press of Atlantic City quoting Jan Jones, Senior Vice President of Communications and Government Relations at Harrah's Entertainment as saying that the company may possibly rebrand the Bally's Atlantic City property to either the Horseshoe or Rio brands which would kill off a brand that has been in continuous use in Atlantic City for over 26 years.

Personally I don't think either of the brands that they are considering would work in Atlantic City, First off as the Press of Atlantic City article points out the Horseshoe is associated as a place for high-stakes and big jackpots and the Rio is an all-suites casino hotel with an edgy and energetic image and considering that most of Atlantic City's clientele are day trippers and senior citizens bused in from New York/Northern New Jersey and Philadelphia I think that high stake players would be far and few and instead of rebranding it just keep it as is because if it's not broken why try to fix it.

BTW for anyone who isn't aware Jan Laverty Jones was the Mayor of Las Vegas from 1991 until 1999 she ran for Governor but lost to Kenny Guinn and then went to work shortly thereafter for Harrahs.
