You are probably better to keep your chips with you as you never know what could happen...theft, loss of luggage, etc. You should consider (if you do not already have one) a roller bag so that you only have to lift the heavy chips onto the security belt and into the overhead luggage compartment (which I am sure someoene could help you). You can get a roller bag quite cheap (Under $10-$12 for the low end ones, but they should work for the trip). It is well worth the cost for not having to carry them.
