Just got back from 5 days in Vegas, and thought I would let everyone know that MGM now has a NLHE tournament Mon-Thu at 11:00 am. They (of course) issued some new NCV chips for tourney play. I played in the tourney on Tue and Wed, but didn't get a chance to try and sneak a chip or two out, since I busted out 1 hour into the game each day!!

The chips are nothing real spectacular, just plain Paulson H&C chips with no edge spots, and inlays of the MGM tiger and denomination listed. I only saw 3 colors - Green-$25, Black-$100, and Purple-$500. I don't think they have $1000 chips, as I watched the final table on Monday, and they colored up to all purple.

This was my first time playing poker in a casino, and was a bit nervous, but all in all had a great time. Seems like a pretty good mixture of players. Maybe 50% were newbies (like me) that wanted to just play, and hoped to get lucky; 25% were guys that thought they were the greatest players ever, but couldn't back it up; and the last 25% being really good poker players.

Registering took a while, and you could tell that tourney play was a little new to both the dealers and the staff, but overall a great experience. I think the tourneys ran a little longer than the managers wanted, because it took nearly 4 hours to complete.

Great poker room and tables at the MGM! Very comfortable and plenty of room to maneuver. Can't wait until my next trip to Vegas to play again!!!
