Holabird Americana Collecting the West Auction #39

Dear Chip Collectors,

I hope you all don't mind this post.

On May 20 & 21 Holabird Americana is holding a live auction, “Collecting the West,” at The Horizon Hotel & Casino in South Lake Tahoe. There will also be a “Collecting the West” show from May 20 to 22 at the same location featuring America’s finest dealers and educational collecting institutions.

This auction will feature many items, including gaming chips and tokens that you may be interested in looking at among a variety of other items. The Gaming section is split into two groups and ranges from lot #s 818-883.

Lot # 829
Gaming. Cal Vada $5 & $25 Chips. Lot of 2 chips. (1) Yellow, 2 blue, small key, hot stamp gold. New Cal - Vada / $5.00 / Lodge // same. Sharp edges, stands on edge. Some circulation wear. (2) Blue, 3 yellow, small key, hot stamp gold. Same as previous with $25. Sharp edges, stands on edge. Some circulation wear. Prov: Fitzgerald Family "Foreign Chip" Coll.

Gaming. Harrah's $5 Chip. Salmon (light brown), 3 dark brown, small key, inlay. $5 / Harrah's Club / (harem) // Harrah's Club / $5 / Reno/Lake Tahoe. Uncirculated, unused. Three drill holes. Prov: Fitzgerald Family "Foreign Chip" Coll.

Gaming. Nugget Reno $5 Chip. Blue, 3 purple, small key, inlay. Home of More Jackpots / The / Nugget / $5 / Reno Nevada // same. Uncirculated, new. Three drill holes near edges. Prov: Fitzgerald Family "Foreign Chip" Coll.

Gaming. Speakeasy Chips and Token. Group of 5 chips and 1 token. All chips stand on edge. Light-blue $1 chip with hat-and-cane mold. Three red and yellow inserts. Oversized round inlay with logo in red and yellow color scheme. Stands on edge. Red $5 with hat-and-cane. Three dark and light blue inserts. Oversized round inlay with logo in light and blue color scheme. Green $25 with hat-and-cane. Three black and pink inserts. Oversized inlay with logo. Black $100 chip with hat-and-cane. Four yellow and gold inserts. Light orange no cash value chip with hat-and-cane mold, no inserts, hot-stamped. Token, 31mm. One Dollar Gaming Token / For Use Only at Speakeasy Casino / [relief of logo] / Reno, NV NCM(c) // same reverse.

Lot # 878

Gaming. Tahoe Biltmore $5 Gaming Chip. Very rare, previously unknown Tahoe Biltmore $25 chip. This chip appears early, perhaps circa 1960. It is pink with four dark blue checks and a zigzag border. Gold Hot stamped center. Provenance: Fitzgerald Family Collection. Uncirculated.
