Random thoughts about limits on collecting

As I've watched my chip collection grow over the past couple of years, I've started to think about limiting "The Collection" to only those chips that I really really like.

I think I read on this board one time about a collector who limits his collection to X number of chips, and I've been toying with the idea. That would mean that once my collection reaches that magic number, the only way I can add another chip is by removing one. Each new chip acquired would have to be "better" than one I would remove from "The Collection".

Theoretically, this would mean my collection would be increasing in quality with each addition of a new chip and removal of an old one. Of course there would have to be some sort of slush pile of chips that were for sale or trade and not an official part of "The Collection".

Has anybody tried this and had any success? Comments? Opinions?
