A different take.....

I would like to preface this comment with I know how silly this thought process is.... grin

The large majority of my traders and higher denomination chips in my collection are the result of winning poker sessions. If I end up doing well I keep a few $1 chips and a few $5 chips and maybe even a $25 chip or two, the rest I cash out. This way I didn't have to "pay" anything for the chips and I feel like I really pulled one over on the Casinos.

In a situation like yours, I would keep the chip for my collection because it really only cost you $60 and you had a great time winning it. If you were to sell it you would have cash now, and a great story but no chip. If you were to replace it in the future it would be drilled or punched in some way, and it wouldn't be "THE chip" that you won. If you were to hold onto it, you would have "THE story, with THE chip." In addition you would have the chip in uncirculated condition, without being drilled or cancelled. If it were me, I would make a return trip to try to get into one of the tournaments, but if I didn't do that, I would definitely hold onto it.

Like I said, that is a bit silly, and some would say dumb... but I've been called worse. rofl
