My take is different...
In Response To: My WYNN review! ()

Food will be lacking, as they are just in their first week - grade food a month from now, to be fair.

I haven't seen the show - but you don't say how many Cirque's you've been to see, and what you thought of them; so the context is unknown. I've taken friends to Cirque shows (I realize that La Reve isn't a Cirque production, but it borrows heavily from them), and had mixed reviews - when I thought the show was incredible!

Color scheme/hallway size/general characterization of "misses the boat"; as recounted by the wealthy ex-Mayor Brown of SF last night (he attended the Grand Opening) "Wynn isn't for everybody, it's just for the people who have already made it - and it's perfect in that regard". Wynn departed from the trend of huge hallways and tall ceilings (think Mandalay Bay), instead trying to keep the feeling small & intimate - I think he succeeded. The color scheme is IMHO incredible, and unique - all around there are things that make you feel you are in a wealthy person's home, and they love to arrange things for your enjoyment. Even the wallpaper was incredible; scunched-up silk - very unique, very rich... Of course, nothing will match seeing so many people dressed in their finest tuxes & gowns - Grand Opening night was like the Oscars, because of the EXPENSIVE charity events just before they opened the doors to the masses... It was like Monaco, or a James Bond film - too much!

You didn't say what you thought of the room - so I assume you didn't stay over-night. I spent 10 hours at Wynn on Grand-Opening night/morning, and I've got to say the place definitely grew on me. I'm really looking forward to staying as a guest in their hotel, going to many of the restaurants, and using their spa (drinks by the pool won't be shabby, I'm sure). I don't golf, so I don't care if that's any good (although I've heard Steve really enhanced the course dramatically).

In short, I think this is an entirely new sort of hotel/casino, and it will require me to spend at least a week to discover all it's secrets - but I'm pretty sure that will be my funnest week in Vegas - BAR NONE!
