I Am Surprised That No One....
In Response To: Removing Cancellations ()

has offered the suggestion that it is wrong to remove cancellations from chips. It is called altering or changing a chip into something other than what it was. You can alter chips by filling drill holes or notches and by repairing cracks or damaged inlays. You can actually make a worthless chip into a valuable one. That's OK, isn't it?

I know that no one would alter a chip and try to deceive a collector into thinking that the chip has not been altered. No one has been doing that, have they? Of course not, one only wants to change the chip so that it will look nicer in his collection, right? I know that we are immortals, but on the chance that we may die and our collections are sold, will the altered chips be marked so that others will not be deceived? Maybe there should be something pertaining to deception in out club bylaws & constitution? What's that? You say that it's already in there? We can actually be expelled from out club by altering chips and deceiving buyers? No way!!! Ask my friend Mel Jung. Ask our president, Mike Skelton and our Board of Directors, who have been investigating these practices for the past year or two.
