Question

I have a question about what's considered “RARE”. I’ve seen on eBay, chips ( individual and sets ) listed as “RARE”, when there’s like 100,000 of them out there. Some from a scripted show on TV, some fantasy and some from real casinos but there’s 1000’s upon 1000’s of them. These chips are selling like hot cakes and yet the chips I have listed ( I found 3 years a go ), that there are less then 5000 of them, are selling a few at a time. Sold them to people and seen thme listed by them at a higher price (double). I raised my price to match the book price after that. I never hid the fact that I found the remainder of the casino inventory. I even told the persons that put out chip price guides, what I found and how many. They thanked me and adjusted the price accordingly. So what’s considered “RARE”, 1,000 ??? 2,000 ??? 100,000 ??? Any amount ? What ?

Is it that they have better listings them me ? More feedback ? Their chips are better and wanted more ? I’ve even seen these chips re-listed buy the buyers just days after they bought them. Saying the same thing get them while you can… won’t last long… Very Rare… ! The thing I can’t stand are the one’s selling the fantasy chips bought from The Gamblers General Store. The cost 0.79 cents and I’ve seen them go for over $20 and more. I guess that old adage is correct ? Buyer beware !!! Sorry to ramble on and thanks for letting me vent off some steam. Take care…
