With so much in the news about the death of the Pope I thought I would select a note from Italy since the Vatican issues only coinage and no paper money.

Today's note is a 1982 issue 1,000 Lira featuring Marco Polo at the right and as the watermark. The back features the facade of Doge Palace in Venice at the bottom of the vertical format. This note was printed by ODBI (Officina Della Banca D'Italy). THis note has a collecter value of $3.00 UNC and the exchange rate is invalid due to Italy's conversion to the Euro. ENJOY!
