The plastic capsules pop apart very easy with a finger nail or knife. There is a little hole on the edge to get you started. Do not remove it until you have a replacement because the brass will tarnish quickly and finger prints and scratches on the strike greatly affect the value. You can place a piece of scotch tape on the crack to keep air out until you find a replacement capsule. Your local coin store can probably help you out.
