Wildhorse (Oregon) Chips/Poker - Long

Howdy,

Just got back from 2 days of poker at the Wildhorse Casino just outside of Pendleton, Oregon. Yes, the place where they make the nice blankets.

Anyway, several things to report but nothing new.

From everything I could see the current chips being used are the version shown 2nd down in the link below. Hope you don't mind, Greg.

Also the 8th one down is currently available, however you can get them with Tom McEvoy, Vince Burgio, Clonie Gowan and Bonnie Damiano as well. McEvoy, Clonie and TJ were there as well as others I'm sure you all know, but those are the only one's I remember, atm.

The cage doesn't sell chips...you have to get them from the floor. At least that is what "J told me on Monday when my pocket Kings got snapped by the pocket A4 who made his river straight when he put me all in on the flop after I came in over the top of him. (end rant)

So, I headed out onto the floor and ended up watching craps. After about 10 minutes and glancing around I spotted "J" pointing and giving me the come here. She had found 4 and asked which one I wanted. Gave her $20, tipped her $1 and walked with all 4. She then closed her window.

I putzed around for a bit and then hit up another window...same story and this time I could tell there would be no surprise later.

That night I had no luck finishing the set during live play as I was playing 4/8 Hold'em with a Kill. Hey, I'm a baby here in with these sharks!!! I did manage to get some dups as the dearles rotated through. They would have a few reds they in their trays from making change.

Day 2

Guess what? I'm out again when I make my short stack all in pre-flop with pocket 9's on the button and a K 10 hits a 10 on the turn. Both moves on both days are something I'd do again, so I feel good about the plays.

Anyway, today I had a different stratagy. The poker tournamet was being held in a large mult-purpose room; btw - this is my first tournament where there were more than 4 tables; and the chips were bought in that room. I went up 'when there was no line' and told them what I was looking for. Two of them dove in and began a search for the last one I needed...Bonnie Damiano.

Luck? Timing? Randomization? It seemed that she was a toughy. They came across more Cloies than any others, but finally came up with one. They were even gracious enough to dig up a 2nd set for me. Of course I tipped them too!

Interestingly enough while they were digging through they mentioned how funny it was that they had to go through and dig them out before and take them out of rotation. So, if you were there at one point and looking for them...they are back in circulation.

By mere chance on day 2 I was playing the 4/8 Kill again when I noticed the player to my left had a Binion's Horseshoe (TCR# N1778?) in an Air-tite? I mentioned the 'nice chip' and his response was that he had picked it up when he was in LV for his 21st birthday. He then went on to say that it wasn't used anymore as they now use the Hat & Cane. You can believe my ears perked right up. I asked him if he belonged to the club and you guessed it, he does!

Mentioned this site as the conversation went along and he said he hadn't heard of it, but would check it out. He was very tired and sadly I didn't get his name. But oh well it is the first chipper from the club that I 'know' I have met.

The Fall Round-Up is in November and I'm sure we'll head back for more fun as we really liked it.
