I brought up the same question before...

...when I was a newer newbie. Although I wouldn't want to keep a chip from being honored the COTY award, it's sure nice when I can afford to buy one for my COTY collection. It seems like the designs get better as the denomonation gets higher. There are exceptions of course, but just look at most $5 chips, compared to $25 chips, compared to $100 chips. It's easy to see this when a casino puts out limited edition sets. Take the Palms Playboy 50th set as an example. I picked up the $5 set which is very nice, but if I could have afforded the $25 set I would have picked those up instead. They are much better looking chips. I did get one of the $50 chips for my collection because it is the COTY, and also a nicer looking chip than the $25 set. I can't tell you how many $100 chips I've seen that are much better looking than most of my collection. What about $500, $1000, $5000 chips? I would just hate to have to settle for a scan of a chip because I was not able to purchase the actual COTY chip. Aren't previous COTY chips valued higher in TCR because of their availability? I think I paid more for my Main Street Station than I did for the Playboy 50th chip, but I just thought the Playboy chip isn't as scarce as the Main Street chip. Just my two cents.
