Slabbing - important, please read

A recent thread regarding ebay seller 'bangorbound2' led me to check back through my notes where I discovered their website address as posted earlier. I recall I had not initially investigated further as that website was down. Now I have viewed it, I see that on the general information page they have the statement "The capsules are sonically sealed"

With the grading, we have a bona-fide(sic) slabbing company, probably grading their own goods. The seller has some 10 slabbed chips on ebay at present, including 'better' AC obsoletes.

I know many of you show little concern on the topic, but I would point out that whereas only 5 slab sellers had been identified in the time before I took over the site, some 7 more have appeared in as many months since then. The concern is that many of those sellers items have sold. IMO this latest seller is one of the 'most dangerous' I have now seen.

I also ask you to take into account the two sets of Binions Horseshoe sets that were sold via a TV/Internet shopping channel, where up to 2,000 sets of each were known to exist. These were sold at 2 to 3 times their fair market value. Although those sets appeared not to be graded, they had been encapsulated by a seller already on the 'banned' list. I therefore did not bother to make reference to the shopping channel on the site.

I will be posting some information on this new seller on the 'slab alert' page of the website.

If you havn't signed up for the slabfree pledge then I ask you to consider doing so now. In August 2004, approx 20% of the clubs actived membership had signed the pledge. 7 months on and we only have 19 more names, out of some 300 new members. 4 of those names are 'older' members.

Many new members visit the board, and some have made 'positive' contributions to past slab threads. Please take the time to browse the slabfree site.
