Revisiting Luxor for $1 chips....

On Sunday the wife and I had breakfast at the Luxor's cafe. While waiting for service, I ventured to the Main Cage, flashed a a hundred dollar bill and asked for a rack of $1 chips. The cashier said, "Wow, I don't have enough, I'll be right back."

With that she went to the back area, got a full rack of chips and told me Good Luck as she pushed them across the counter.

I took them to the cafe and started going through them for newness and security codes. The rack contained nearly 20 near-new chips, none of which had a security code. Out of the entire rack, only four had security codes, one of which was a mixed version, i.e., a different code on each side.

I kept 10 near-new chips, and the four coded chips (yes, they were dirty and worn). The rest went back to the cage. On the way back to the cafe, I stopped at the poker room (area) and asked for a rack of whites. Without hesitation I was sold a rack of $1's (I wasn't even in a game) and I went off to the cafe to search this second rack. It also had some near-new chips and three security coded chips. All-in-all I got 7 security coded chips, and 13 near-new chips.

It was rather interesting that while seated at the cafe, looking at all 200 chips (both sides) with a UV light, not even the "suit" at the next table (with a security badge displayed) asked me what I was doing.

I mention this event because the last time the subject came up on this BBS, the Luxor cage was not releasing a rack of $1 chips at a time. I guess things change. Probably from day-to-day, or even from shift-to-shift. vbg
