Re: Another "Do Gooder" complains about an auction

We may think that no one could be taken in by these fantasy chips yet I have a friend who paid around $25 for a Sands or Dunes $25 borland when it was encountered at a coin show. The more people who are duped by these practices & similar chips the worse it is for our hobby. In a somewhat analogous situation, about 15 years ago the coin hobby underwent a significant change in grading standards for mint-state coins. The change erased much value in most, if not all, portfolios of mint-state coins. As a result sales declined over the next 10 years and I am not sure if they have yet recovered.
