NCR A lesson in decimal points (for John)

When I was in high school (1958) my English teacher told the class of her experience as a bonded telegraph operator for a bank.

Her job was to send telegraph messages that transferred money from bank to bank.

One day she had a transfer of $4,200,000, the biggest transfer she'd ever made. And, unfortunately, her last.

Because it was such a large amount, she was a little nervous. She lost count of her zeros and sent $42,000,000.

She told us she enjoyed being a high school English teacher.
