I was there for 4 months in 2003 courtesy of my Uncle Sam. I was dissapointed to find that all the casinos were closed. Aparently the goverment was upset about money laundering. The way that place runs on bribery from the lowest man on the street to the highest goverment official all I can figure is that sombody was not getting their cut so they shut it all down.
(as an example one of our people went on a medivac flight to germany and orders expired while they were out of Turkey, Customs at the airport would not allow the base to give them the new orders and it ws "fork ove $100 american or get back on the plane" so the person had to cough up the 100 clams. Aparently there is still gambeling in private clubs but I was not able to run down any info on them at the time
