Are you're being intentionally obtuse? That is not what I said. No matter what the issue (fakes, fantasies, repairs, counterfeits, fraud of any kind), you and other ostrichs are always going to be able, as you did, to point to some particular chip and say, "well, that problem has no effect on the value of that chip". And you'll be right. But, you'll also be missing the point.

The issue is not just whether the conduct involved has some impact on the value of any particular chip. Or, for that matter, "chip values" in general, though that would be a legitimate concern (and some of the conduct involved does, whether you want to admit it or not).

Another legitimate concern is whether there is some other detrimental effect on the hobby (for example, causing collectors who feel ripped off to stop collecting).

And, when there is fraud involved, collectors are right to be concerned about the dishonesty of the seller, regardless of whether it has any effect on chip values or collectors other than the one being defrauded.

Your attitude is like saying that you wouldn't care if the 7-11 down the street got robbed because the robbery wouldn't have any effect on the value of your Tropicana chip or on you personally.

I don't think that most of the ChipBoard comments on these issues are "sky is falling" hysteria. People are expressing legitimate concerns about misleading, deceptive or downright fraudulent conduct. IMO, that is entirely appropriate.
