Question #1 for the casino experts

Last night my financee & myself went to the Arogsy Empress casino in Joliet, IL to play some Blackjack. We had not been there in about six months. When we started playing we noticed that they were playing with the old blue/purple chips that the chip guide says were removed 2/15/00. On my way out I asked at the cage if they ever sold new or clean chips to collectors and was told then that they brought back the old chips when they opened up their new poker room and the other chips, yellow, were put in the vault. Why would a casino do this, what different does the color of a $1 chip make in a poker room? Is it because they have more of the old purple/blue chips than the yellow chips? Why wouldn't they buy new chips for the new poker room and create some excitement?

By the way the minimum BJ table was $15 so we did not play long and the condition of the chips was poor. I did pick up two $1 chips (not pictured) that I would consider in trading condition and they are marginal at best. Anyone need one, they appear to be SU or AVG condition?
