Blue Chip Company - Interview with Mike Endy:
Blue Chip Co. produces compression molded, 'clay' chips for both a variety of casinos as well as the home user. Mike Endy, Blue Chip's Operations Manager was kind enough to spend a few minutes on the phone with me discussing numerous topics. Mike's uncle, Paul Endy, founded Paul-Son in the 1960's. A name that may ring a bell for you. It was Mike's father, Charles Endy, who was involved in originating the manufacture of clay chips sold by Paul-Son. After the passing of Charles' brother Paul and the control of Paul-Son changing hands, Charles and his partners created the Blue Chip Co. LLC to continue on with their poker-chip manufacturing heritage. As Mike describes it, the Paul-Son and Blue Chip chips could be described as 'sisters' with the same heritage but each evolving using its own proprietary information.

For the home poker chip buyer, Blue Chip currently makes the clay chips for BuyPokerChips.com and Nevada Jacks, plus numerous other clay chips out there like James Bond, Viva Las Vegas, and Fan of Cards. Casino wise, a few of their many customers include the Golden Gate, Riviera, Aladdin, Sahara, Peppermill Reno, Silver Legacy, and the poker tournament chips for the T.V shows Poker Superstars and The Plaza.

The only difference between Blue Chip's casino grade chip and those you can buy for your home is a 'slight' increase in weight for the casinos. Manufacturing wise, all the chips have the same clay mixture; however, there are various factors including both the chip color and the chip mold that can have a great effect on the overall weight/feel of the various chips. Also, Mike informed me that while many people describe his chips as having a 'shell' mold, the mold is actually 'six flames'.
