Here's a scan of an interesting pair of matchcovers from Lake Tahoe. One the left is the New Cal Vada Lodge which opened in 1942. The similar match on the right is from Bal Tabarin, the new name for the club in 1956. Both are Lion matches with the cellophane covering, which accounts for some of the discoloring and reflections in the scan.

Note the phone number of the earlier one: Crystal Bay 36!. The later one has a 7 digit number with an exchange LIberty 7-3374.

Also the "24 Hour Coffee Shop" morphed into "Dining" in the Bal Tabarin.

The Bal Tabarin appears to have a Lion Match date code of 1957 but the collector who trimmed the earlier cover to fit his album has removed its date along with the striker and the safety warning. Too bad!
