True story.
On graveyard the slot employees were required to play off all the lights on the games that were left by the drop team, (when the door is opened the light on top blinks). The employees would open the game retrieve one coin, depending on what game they were at, and play one hand or spin. This would cause the light to go out.

Over a period of time and employee named Jerry would take handfuls of $100 tokens out of each $100 game he played off. He would not carry these on his person. He would stash them in another game, usually .25 game, and then retrieve them later and pass them off to an partner. This partner would cash them in later. There was no accountability for these tokens, ie. you did not have to prove where you got them. Another floorperson on swing found one of his stashes and notified the supervisor. All serveillance had to do was wait.

The amount taken can only be estimated, but I saw Jerry with 3 different souped up cars and he got hair plugs all off a slot floorpersons salary.

There are now safeguards to prevent such theft. A $100 game can not be opened without a supervisor and surveillance must be notified. The coins were never kept in bags but in racks. And if a guest trys to cash in a token they must prove play or explain where they got the token.
