Re: Question For Those Chipsters in Detroit

I'd like to point out Terry that the last thing I heard about the permanent casinos was reports in the news that Mandalay plans to sell MotorCity just prior to the completion of the merger with MGM Mirage and that was it. Which brings to question will the new owners have the bucks to complete the new MotorCity permanent casino. Maybe if it is someone like Don Barden who I wouldn't rule out because he seems determined to own a casino in Detroit.

I also have been wondering if MGM Mirage really has a desire to stay in and serve the Detroit gaming market. They seem to have a build it and they will come attitude then a few year after building it they dump it. Some good examples are the MGM Grand casinos in Darwin Australia and Johannesburg South Africa. Now admittedly South Africa doesn't seem like the ideal place to operate a casino especially because of the high racial tensions that still exist between the Black South Africans and White South Africans and the fact that HIV/AIDS is running rampant throughout the African continent. But Australia is a different story, I don't understand why Mr. Lanni and Mr. Murren's made a decision to dump a perfectly profitable property. Although I've never been to Australia it seems to me that would be a perfect place to own and operate a casino and I'll bet dollars to Macau Patacas that sometime in the future MGM Mirage will get tired of their Macau property and sell that too.
