Sapir-Niederer was removed from the Colonial Firehouse in the Trenton suburb Thursday, arrested and charged with defiant trespassing after she interrupted the first lady when she began to speak of her husband's stance on terrorism. Sapir-Niederer then refused to leave the premises.

The campaign event required tickets for admission. Sapir-Niederer said she went to Republican headquarters, asked for a ticket and received one. The trespassing charge is based on her refusing to leave when asked, not for illegal entry.

Mercer County Prosecutor Joseph L. Bocchini Jr. intervened yesterday and dismissed charges against Sapir-Niederer. He said it was unfortunate police had to take her into custody but that "they were just doing their jobs."
