A few minutes ago, I sent him this follow up:

Hello ----- Thanks for the response regarding this chip.

I have been collecting casino and poker chips for 12 years and am a life member of the Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club. The author of the definitive guide to ivory poker chips (Dale Seymour) is a personal friend. The specific design of your chip is not known to exist on real ivory chips. See page 123 of Seymour's "Antique Gambling Chips", 2nd Edition, for pictures of all known eagle design ivory chips.

The exact design on your chip IS known as a fake ivory. See page 213 of the Seymour book. It is also known to exist as a composition or clay chip with a machined design (produced during the first 30-40 years of the 20th century). See page 242 of Seymour.

There is a discussion of your chip on The ChipBoard, a message board frequented by chip collectors. It starts at:

http://www.thechipboard.com/cgi-bin/tcb/tcb.pl?noframes;read=363445

Some of the comments are not very flattering, but you can learn a lot about the chip. Rich Hanover, Robert Eisenstadt and Allan Myers are three of the top chip experts in the country (Myers is one of three authors of the definitive book on Nevada casino chips). I bow to his evaluation that the color of your chip is more scarce than some others of the same design, giving it a value in his opinion of $5-8 as a single chip.

I hope the foregoing answers your question.

It is a generic clay poker chip.
the plot sickens
Re: I think there is a rip off eBay auction
However if he gets another bid for say $325
Hopefully he would have had more chance
