Like every hobby ... there are expenses associated with hobby activities and adding to one's collection. I know people who like to go bowling several nights a week as a hobby. I have not heard any of them ask where they can sell their used bowling score sheets after they tire of their hobby .... ditto on those who hold season tickets for major sports events to sell their used ticket stubs.

Don't collect chips for the investment or speculation angle. Collect for the pure enjoyment. When/if you do tire of collecting chips ... you may be surprised how much of the money you spent on chips that can be recouped on those items that have unexpectedly appreciated in value .... unlike bowling score sheets and used ticket stubs.
