Many Hard Rock "Cafes" issued promotional chips mostly for grand openings. They are no value chips sold strictly as a Hard Rock Cafe souvenir / collectible similar to their pins. They are not "casino" chips.

No way to tell which version chip you have without a UV light unless there is a visible design difference. I think the Luxor chips started many people checking for different UVs on chips. I have no idea who first discovered differing UV marks on chips. It has become a fairly common practice to check especially when new looking chips hit a table. Usually a different UV mark indicates a reorder of the chip & it maybe the only difference.
